QUARTZ WORKTOPS

Why Choose Quartz Worktops Over Granite?

When you look at the options for stone worktops, you'll find that some of the most popular options are quartz and granite. There are several differences between the two, and these often cause an individual to strongly prefer one over the other. However, which one is preferred depends on each person's tastes, priorities, and needs.

Granite is all-natural, and is available in many patterns and colors. Meanwhile, quartz is actually only about 95 percent stone. The stone is ground and mixed with resins to produce bespoke quartz kitchen worktops. While this allows it to be shaped with far less expense, it also makes it so that colors and patterns are more limited.

Cost-wise, the two are surprisingly similar. However, the reasons for the costs are a bit different. With granite, much of it comes from the fabrication process, which involves expert carving and extensive polishing. Quartz worktops, on the other hand, involve higher costs due to the fact that it is heavier than granite. This makes it so that the underlying structure often needs to be shored up in order to hold it.

Durability is another big factor that causes people to choose quartz kitchen worktops over granite ones. Granite is porous, so it can be stained if anything leaks through its shiny finish. Quartz is non-porous, so it is far more resistant to staining. Quartz is more resistant to other types of damage, such as chipping, as well. However, quartz can be damaged by high heat.

With these differences in mind, it will be easier to choose one over the other. A careful choice will ensure that you'll love your worktop for years to come.
